 We Were There... We were there when we all thought the politics of West Nyakach was going to change, when Hon. OkwanyC declared his candidacy for the West Nyakach ward MCA seat, only for him to disappear and re-emerge a week before ODM nominations. We were there when Hon. Arum Koja, a vibrant and eloquent leader, dropped his bid and supported Hon. James Ochieng Omolo... It was until I, Hon. Nyakwar Jamoko, called him, and the next day it was Hon. Ogutu Tosha... We were there that very day in the morning, the ground was hot, the ODM nomination day; blows and chaos were witnessed. Later in the evening, the shortest political phrase was written. "OGUTU WUOD NYAGUL WEPT." We were there, after disappointment, the Crystals villa declaration... we all said with one voice, Engineer Okemba for MCA... A move that was to shape the politics of West Nyakach... only for him to gather 50 votes in the general election. So sad... We were also there that evening on the eve of the August Polls...

Neglected Education: The Plight of Saint Mairead Oriang Primary School

 In a visit to my former primary school, Saint Mairead Oriang, memories flooded back of a time when this institution was a beacon of hope and learning for young minds. However, what I encountered at the entrance was a stark reminder of the neglect that has befallen this once-thriving educational establishment. The stalled ECDE (Early Childhood Development Education) project, which remains incomplete three years after its groundbreaking, paints a disheartening picture. The very foundation of early education for our youngest learners has been left in limbo. Even more troubling is the fact that the classroom originally intended for ECDE students has been repurposed to host Grade 7 junior secondary students, highlighting a severe shortage of learning spaces. A closer look reveals the dire water situation at the school. The tanks, which should provide a reliable water source for pupils, lack gutters, forcing students to carry water from home.
